Welsh Past

This is a list of verbs in the past tense in Welsh. First let's start with the raw format before conjugating the verbs to the past form. Make sure to compare this table and the one below it.

These samples show how the verbs above are conjugated in the past tense in a sentence which includes all the object pronouns (I, you, she...).

I saw you: Gwelais i ti
I wrote with a pen: Defnyddiais ysgrifbin i ysgrifennu
You loved apples: Roeddet ti'n caru afalau
You gave money: Rhoddaist ti arian
You played tennis: Chwaraeaist ti tennis
He read (past) a book: Darllenodd e lyfr
He understood me: Deallodd e fi
She had a cat: Roedd ganddi chath
She knew my friend: Roedd hi'n adnabod fy ffrind
We wanted to learn: Roeddym ni eisiau dysgu
We thought Spanish is easy: Roeddym ni'n meddwl bod Sbaeneg yn rhwydd
You (plural) worked here: Gweithioch chi yma
You (plural) spoke French: Roeddych chi'n siarad Ffrangeg
They drove a car: Gyrron nhw gar
They smiled: Gwnaethon nhw wenu
