Somali Negation

This is a lesson about negation in Somali. This includes words or expressions used to form a negative form as opposted to the affirmative. For example "I don't understand".

No: Maya
Nothing: Waxba
Not yet: Weli
No one: Qofna / cidna
No longer: Mar danbe
Never: marna
Cannot: Maba
Should not: ma haboonayn

The below examples demonstrate how to use the negation form in a sentence. Don't be shy to use of these expressions if you don't know something.

We don't understand: Ma fahamno
I do not speak Japanese: Af Jabaniis ma ku hadlo
I cannot remember the word: Ereyga ma xasuusan karo
You should not forget this word: Ereyga ma xasuusan karo
No problem!: Inaad iloowdo ma ahan ereygaan
I don't know!: Ma garanayo
I'm not interested!: Ma daneeynayo
Don't worry!: Ha wal-welin!
This is wrong: Tani waa khalad
This is not correct: Tani wax ma ahan
No one here speaks Greek: Qofna Af Giriig ma ku hadlo
I'm not fluent in Italian yet: Weli si xiriir ah Af Talyaani uguma hadli karo
