Catalan Past

This is a list of verbs in the past tense in Catalan. First let's start with the raw format before conjugating the verbs to the past form. Make sure to compare this table and the one below it.

To love: estimar
To give: Donar
To play: Jugar
To read: Llegir
To understand: Comprendre
To have: Tenir
To know: Saber
To learn: Aprendre
To think: Pensar

These samples show how the verbs above are conjugated in the past tense in a sentence which includes all the object pronouns (I, you, she...).

I saw you: Et vaig veure
I wrote with a pen: Vaig escriure amb ploma
You loved apples: T'agradaven (molt) les pomes
You gave money: Vas donar diners
You played tennis: Vas jugar a tènis
He read (past) a book: (Ell) Va llegir un llibre
He understood me: (Ell) Em va entendre
She had a cat: (Ella) Tenia un(a) gat(a)
She knew my friend: (Ella) Coneixia el meu amic
We wanted to learn: (Ells / Elles) Volien aprendre
We thought Spanish is easy: Pensàvem que el castellà era fàcil
You (plural) worked here: (Vosaltres) Treballàveu aquí
You (plural) spoke French: (Vosaltres) Parlàveu francès.
They drove a car: (Ells / Elles) conduïen un cotxe.
They smiled: (Ella / Elles) Van somriure
